88 Cosy: a giveaway
Cosy*. A word for keeping warm. A cosy sweater, cosy socks, cosy muffatees (there's a pair up for grabs here), a tea cosy, an egg cosy (enter to win one). It's a knitter's word, cosy.
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
That recent rheumatoid arthritis flare up saw two knitting deadlines pass me by and I'm having to rethink my knitsofacto baby knit plans in consequence. I'm no longer sure what's next. Which is actually something of a relief because the fun went out of knitting for a while there and I'd begun to sound remarkably like the White Rabbit in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland ... no time, no time, no time!
I don't like to disappoint - I guess that's a common affliction - so I take too much on. Which is one of the reasons it's taken me a good while to sort this giveaway out. It's weeks since I was lucky enough to win some delightful goodies in Lisa's Bobobun 'Craft it Forwards' giveaway and then committed to crafting something forward myself. But better late than never.
So how does this work? First, entering doesn't commit you to anything, you don't even need to have a blog, but it would be great if the winners could pay the craftsy love forward somehow. If you win and you're not in a position to hold a giveaway yourself maybe you could support a maker and buy something handmade. To enter just leave a comment**. Tell me something, anything. And for a second chance to win share a link to the giveaway - on your blog, twitter, or facebook - and pop back and leave another comment to tell me that you have. Because it's still the holiday season here in the UK I'll leave the giveaway open until midnight BST on Friday August 31st. Two names will then be drawn from the hat. One winner will receive a duplicate of the egg cozy and egg cup combo pictured above and the other will receive a cosy pair of pure alpaca Runrig Muffatees, knitted by me to fit your hands. Oh, and I'll post to anywhere in the world. Good luck :D
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Did you spot the new Pin It buttons? I know, I know, after everything I said about Pinterest. But maybe more of my pics will link back to me now.
And talking of links ... today's shout outs go to Koralee at Bluebird Notes,
John Gray at Going Gently, Heather at My Little Red Suitcase, June at Cats, Dogs and Eiderdowns, Sandra at Reflections and Nature, and Rachel at My Rainbow Vintage Home. Welcome, welcome, one and all! And welcome back to Pomona at Little Cottage Comforts, we missed you m'dear :D
♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
* Or cozy, but I'm sticking with the UK spelling. This one's a gift for a little girl who likes a boiled egg with 'solders' for her breakfast every day.
** If you don't have a blog or are a no reply blogger please make sure I have a means of contacting you should you win.

Comments are the best bit! And I always read them, every one, so do please join the conversation. There's no silly word verification either, so go on, say hello :D (Please note that due to failings in Blogger's spam filter I can no longer allow anonymous comments, but if you don't have your own URL you can use Google, Yahoo, Flickr, or a.n.other OpenID. Read how here. Or email me, I'll always reply.)

So very sorry to read about your knitting difficulties. Give yourself permission to heal. And thank you for this delightful photo.
ReplyDeleteThat is super cute! but I would need 2 otherwise the boys would argue......as to the buy no store flowers... well i have sinned....bought some stunning tigerlillies..potted so that next year they will come again...so I suppose that isn´t so bad.... Keep the faith Annie....Things will pick up..and I hope Finn´s isn´t too sore
DeleteI'm glad you have made it through the flare. Those things are tough and have a tendency (at least in my case) of leaving behind some lasting pain. I'm hoping that you are feeling much, much better and able to get back in the swing of things. Please enter me in your giveaway. I'll post on my blog right now. Take care, dear friend. Sharon
ReplyDeleteMission accomplished, Annie. Your giveaway is now listed on my blog. :)
ReplyDeleteOh I would love to win, count me in!

ReplyDeleteCount me in, Annie! And I like the UK spelling of most words ... cosy it is. :)
ReplyDelete(I seem to be missing your posts - Blogger up to their tricks again. They only do it to annoy, because they know it teases....)
Hello Annie:
ReplyDeleteHow we should love to take part but for the totally unreliable Hungarian postal service where most things of value disappear!! But good luck to everyone!
Yes please Annie, put my name in the mix....I too am someone who says yes, sometimes I dearly regret it, but mainly I'm glad I am a people pleaser, as I've stretched and challenged myself and would have missed many an opportunity if I didn't. This weekend by some oddity I've been asked to make a first birthday cake for a friends little girl, I have no idea why they chose me, flattering, but scary as a very scary thing!
ReplyDeleteWhen I get around to posting later, I will put a link up and pop back.
How cute is that little bunny cosy and the muffatees look so cosy too! I love the idea of passing on the crafty love with a little make so count me in please. Sorry to hear about your RA - a friend of mine found knitting painful for the same reason but do hope it won't prevent you doing other things during a flare up.
ReplyDeleteHi, I know you didn't want to enter my giveaway because you're a yarn girl, but I would love to enter yours because I'm not! I can knit or crochet for toffee, but love all things yarny! Thank you! Ada :)
ReplyDeleteHere I am, too!!!cI can't miss this lovely chance to win a bunny cosy!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea to win and the challenge to knit something else as for a non stop giveaway!!! ;oD

Hello...me again, i have added your gorgeous bunny to my sidebar
ReplyDeletelove jooles x
Thank you most kindly for the mention! And I do sympathize with the hand issues - I can't knit so much now, and it is all a bit frustrating. For me, I think the answer is to stick to small projects and not embark on anything too complicated.
ReplyDeleteHope it all settles down soon.
Pomona x
Dear Annie
ReplyDeletePlease enter me into your lovely giveaway. I'll be very happy to offer a giveaway of my own when I get to 400 blog posts (I'm on 383 ish at the moment, so it won't be long!) Sorry to hear you have been suffering and I hope you are feeling more like crafting again now.
Best wishes
Ellie
Oh,I so totally understand how knitting can have the "fun taken out of it"; I owned a yarn shop for awhile and making all those shop models (that I knew others would love but just wasn't "me"!!!). Rest assured--the fun does return when the deadlines leave! What a lovely giveaway. THanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteCount me in Annie, that bunny is so cute!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteHope that RA settle soon.

ReplyDeletePlease enter me in your giveaway. I know what a struggle it is with arthritis - I had to give up crocheting but I'm trying to learn to knit. J
ReplyDeleteHow fabulous Annie, please count me in and I have also added your bunny pic and link to my side bar too. Now, I'll tell you something.... my dad to this day calls me bun-bun because I had a little bunny soft toy when I was little and my name for it was bun bun. Who doesn't love a bunny or two? Hi Annie, I would love to enter your giveaway too please! I am also having a staycation this year, getting things done and generally stepping out of the usual things. If I go away it has to be a dog friendly holiday, but then I only have one dog! not seven!! Heather x
ReplyDeleteHi Annie, I'm new here and love reading about your knitting. It is also lovely to here about other things people get up to. I'm sorry you are in pain- my mum always says if one thing in life is hard turn to something else. I would love to enter your give away please. No blog yet but I will make something to pass on, Steph
ReplyDeleteUrgh rheumatoid arthritis is the pits. I used to be a medical rep and one of the drugs I promoted was Celebrex (celecoxib) which was for both RA and OA.
ReplyDeleteAnyway I used to organise things called Patient Partner meetings for GP's. It was a great thing. The company i worked for used to take people with RA and teach them all about the condition. They became uber experts. They were then trained in how to teach GP's to diagnose RA. But more importantly they taught them how to handle a patients poor painful joints when they were manipulating them to aid diagnosis. Some GP's were astonished that when they were pushing on the wrist knuckle for the 'piano key' effect the patient not only felt discomfort at the time but the burning ache would worsen over the next few days.
The Patient Partners also brought home to the GP's what daily life was like for them. It was all too easy for a rushed, stressed Doctor to see a patient presenting with RA as a depressed person in pain who had come to moan. They couldn't see past the person sat in their surgery. They sometimes didn't appreciate what that person had had to endure to get to the surgery that day, how some couldn't even use an electric toothbrush because the vibrations were agony. They didn't understand the impact it had to not be able to wear exactly what you wanted, go where you wanted alone, cook for yourself etc....
I loved these meetings. They were so helpful and important. I doubt they are being run anymore since Pharmacia got bought out by Pfizer and so many changes were made.
I hope you have a remission really soon.
xxx

Aw GW the cosy is lovely... Sorry to hear the RA is becoming a bother with your knitting :-( ((((HUGS))))) NO X
ReplyDeleteAww, thanks Rachie xxx
ReplyDeleteAnd for anyone who reads this and wonders, Rachie and I have been referring to each other as Granny Weatherwax (GW) and Nanny Ogg (NO) for years. Which will only make sense to folk familiar with Terry Pratchett's Disc World books. (Not, I hasten to add, that either of us are as old as those two estimable, um, ladies!)
This is soooo cute. I can knit but am more of a fabric tart.
ReplyDeleteMy mother and one of my good friends both suffer with RA and I can't even imagine how they get through some of the more painful days so I really feel for you.
Thank you for the chance to enter.
Best wishes.

Sorry about your flare up. Fingers crossed there won't be another for a very long time. Love the little bunny.
ReplyDeleteOh my that is just too sweet for words. I would love to give the little cosy a new home in Australia. I have three little boys who would smile wide to see him on one of their boiled eggs.
ReplyDeleteBe well!
What a sweet little cozy. I am sympathetic with your flare. I have something (not sure of the diagnosis as they have never given me a firm one) but I do have flares of joint pain. At the moment I am treating with diet, which helps. I hate when it comes up because when you hurt you don't feel so much like doing things. xxxo
